Mail call

October 7, 2009 by Elizabeth

We received a good number of returned auction invitations (be sure to update us when your address changes!) and decided to give them to the chimpanzees. Jamie made her way through them one by one…

What a busy secretary Jamie is!! I notice her glancing up at the camera a few times. I was just wondering – do the chimps let you know if they’re not in the mood to be on camera?? If so, what do they do?? Even the major movie stars get tired of dealing with the paparazzi!!!

Gayle — Yes, there are definitely times when the chimps let us know that they are not in the mood to be filmed. They get their message across by banging on the caging in front of the camera or trying to poke the camera through the caging. We can often earn some measure of forgiveness by turning the camera around and showing them what we’ve filmed on the LCD screen. 🙂

Theresa — Great idea! We’re always looking for new and creative enrichment ideas. I think I might try yours today…

Jamie is certainly good at getting them open. Why not put some raisins, cereal, or nuts in a bunch of sealed envelopes for an enrichment? They might enjoy that although it wouldn’t take them long to get to the goodies. I love the way she keeps looking up at the video camera….LOL!

Oh that reminds me! Time to order holiday cards! (Jamie looks just like me when I’m opening Christmas cards – once they’re open and you enjoy them (and their glue), what the heck do you do with ’em???)

Well, now you know who you can count on to help with the next mass mailing! Maybe the back of the envelopes could say “Sealed with a (chimp) kiss”! 😉
