Yes, wonderful close up photos. Always like to study their faces and features.
Silly Question: Burrito and Missy both have a hairline that runs on the top of their heads up to their ‘eye brows’. The other ladies have more of a receding hairline. Is there any significance to this, such as the area they may come from or their genus (?!), or is it more like Jamie, Missy and Burrito having white ‘freckles’ on their faces? Just curious.
That’s a good question, Kathleen. I’m not sure! I have always assumed it’s just like freckles or white beards, but it may have something to do with subspecies. Hair color (light vs. dark) is one way of differentiating between the four subspecies, but I’m sure there are other slight variations as well.

Beautiful photos…as always! How do you get those close-ups and without the caging in the way? Do you just put the lense in an opening and shoot?
We have a couple really awesome zoom lenses, Chris. We do get pretty close to the caging but we’re able to zoom in fairly well most of the time. Only staff are allowed to take photos that close to the caging, and we are all very good at moving quickly if a chimpanzee tries to poke the camera 😉
