Never too old to play

June 5, 2009 by J.B.

Every once and a while, Negra musters enough energy to play with us and the other chimpanzees. This morning, she was giving kisses, tickling, and encouraging us to dance. And the other day, I caught her playing with Missy. I want to give Missy the benefit of the doubt, but I’m pretty sure she was tickling Negra just to get her blankets.

Either way, it’s nice to see Negra smiling.

What touching pictures! I love seeing the chimps having a good time and especially Negra. Maybe she is realizing that it’s not so much fun sitting all alone and watching. Seeing her laughing warms my heart!

Let’s not forget that June 13th is Negra’s birthday as well as the CE7’s first anniversary. Please, please lets all get those pennies, nickels, dimes. quarters etc. etc. together for the celebration.

I know it’s hard times but if you just miss one or two of those specials coffees a week and send the difference to the CE7 it will make a big difference. They have given so much and it’s time for us to give back just a little……. penny by penny (it all adds up).

I am one who thinks “if I can’t give big then it’s not worth it” but that is so not true (I’m learning). The CE7 has taught me that even just “a little combined with the many” makes a HUGH difference not only in their life but in my own.

Thank you all for donating to the CE7 in any way you can to making their (and your) lives better.

Hope all is well on the hill

    I love you Negra

It’s so sweet to see Negra enjoying herself. She seems to have been so much more traumatized by events in her former life but as the year has gone by, we’ve been fortunate to witness – through this blog – her increasing engagement with the staff and other chimps. I’m so glad the other chimps encourage her to react with them. Keep dancing Negra!

This photos reminded me of the July 3, 2008 video OLD LADIES PLAYING when Negra joined in when Missy & Annie were playing with one another. What a year this has been!
