Eat, sleep, repeat

May 29, 2009 by J.B.

Last night, one of our volunteers made peppers stuffed with rice, apples and lime juice for dinner:

This morning, the chimps nibbled on grass:

Afterwards, Jody decided to make herself comfortable:

Missy, as usual, stopped to pose for a photo:

    Amen, Amy.

Whenever I see pictures of the chimps looking so happy and healthy and vibrantl, I think back on this picture of Jody:

Contentment is so good to see. Jody looks so comfortable just snoozing in the sun. They are loving life now and it’s heartwarming to see!

Margaret and Karen and Amy – I couldn’t agree more! Especially the photo of Jody all splayed out, content as can be. That gives me the very best feeling and says it all, doesn’t it? Margaret, I think this one is right up there with the photo of Jody and her night bag 🙂

As I read through the comments I was thinking that Margaret. It would make a great photo. Everyone said it all, what wonderful photos and with them all the lovely thoughts they invoke. Thanks JB.

Do you ever find that a chimp doesn’t like a food that you prepare for them? What do you do if one of them doesn’t like whats on the menu? I was just wondering if they had favorites and dislikes like we do. It seems that they eat whatever you give them.

    Thanks,
    Shari

Hi Shari – Yes, the chimps certainly have favorites and dislikes, and they often refuse certain parts of a meal. Foxie is the pickiest – she’s not big on most vegetables, unless they are sweet (like red peppers). She won’t even take her nighttime bag (a lunch sack with nuts, dried fruit, popcorn, etc.) unless its in a brown bag. Blue bags get sent back! At the other end, you have Burrito, who will consume anything you put in front of him. But even he has favorites (spaghetti). Its up to them to decide what they want to eat, and its up to us to provide enough variety to ensure that everyone has a complete and healthy diet.
