Negra in the snow

December 16, 2012 by Jackie

Just 3 days ago, Debbie mentioned how we haven’t really had that much snow this year. She even said “I don’t want to jinx it”. Well, it’s been snowing almost constantly since Friday, so I think we can consider it jinxed! The humans may not be 100% excited about it, but the chimps are! Even Negra has been spending time on the hill eating snow.

Negra has always been the queen, of course; now she’s the snow queen!

Negra is so beautiful. I’m glad she ventured out to get some fresh snow. I think we have more coming Neggie.

Having grown up in a colder environment myself, I think Negra is very couragous to go out today and sample some snow.

I too, love Negra – she deserves to be quite the queen, because of the tragic basement (no windows) research place you got her from – thank God for you! She looks so regal, and full of experience – it really good to see her outside enjoying snow.

I would like to see more pictures from her windows that she survey’s the hill from, please. It is so beautiful.

Thank-you so much for all that you have done for these chimpanzee’s.

She looks like she was really enjoying herself today. I bet it’s really bright and beautiful with all the snow. You go girl!!

When I was a little girl in NY one of my greatest joys was getting to go out in the snow and eat it and play. Neggies joy takes me right back there……it’s those wonderful little joys……

I am really fascinated to wrap my head around how these African primates enjoy and embrace snow. My African basenjis can’t even handle San Francisco rain!
