Today on the sanctuary’s Facebook page, I asked fans which chimp of the Cle Elum Seven chimpanzees they were most drawn towards. A lot of people couldn’t chose among the seven, not surprisingly.
Some people were able to name names, however, and comments about what draws people to the chimps keep coming in, including this great comment from volunteer and friend of the Seven, Katie Patterson: “Missy has an energy and enthusiasm for life that is contagious, especially considering everything she has been through.”
Here are a couple of photos of Missy taken earlier this week that epitomize that energy:

It’s so great for the other six chimpanzees to have Missy as a role model for enthusiasm!
Thanks to Katie and everyone who has shared their thoughts about the chimps on our Facebook page this afternoon. Keep posting – it’s great to hear what you like about the chimps!

Please retire them to a sanctuary. They deserve this after years of laboratory experiments. and locked there.
Thanks.

When I first discovered CSNW ..I loved Jody..then as I began to get to know all the chimps from blogs and videos,,I began to favour all of them.. Negra has has such a different dispostion than the rest,,her size, her age, her everything is beautiful. Burrito and his food squeeks, along with his overall excietment and zest for life ,,he is so endearing. Missy and Annie,,their friendship and their energy plus is just incredible.. Foxie,, and her trolls,,totally makes her a top contender,as well as her payful spirit,,back flips, and her break dance type of moves.. that come natural to chimp.,Last but NOT least is the BOSS.. Jamie is on a plaine of her very own.. she don’t skip a beat,,her displays are so impressive, and very matter of fact. as is her gentle caring side..
I love them all .. with every new descriptive post and video, it re enforces my love and support, for them all.

Foxie was the first one to draw my interest with her passion for troll dolls (I remember having them when I was growing up too – I would braid their hair). I saw her attraction to her trolls as a mother who had lost her children and I ached a little more for her through her obsession with them.
I have to say over the past few years Jamie, with her artistic nature and her smarts (knitting needles, use of tools) has fascinated me and I find I’m most curious about what’s going on in her mind. It doesn’t matter that she developed certain skills from living among humans – the human/chimp connection has always fascinated me. And Negra, the oldest and, it seemed, the one who had the most psychological barriers to overcome. I so enjoy witnessing her progress and I’m really rooting for her!
I love them all, of course, but those three are the ones whose videos and updates most interest me.
