Hoppy Easter!

April 8, 2012 by Jackie

Today was a full day of mini-parties! First, we had a juice forage in the Playroom (something all the chimps love), then we set up a lunch forage in the greenhouse, followed by an Easter Egg Hunt on Young’s Hill! On the menu for lunch was Easter baskets of cut up fruits and veggies in a bed of lettuce, courtesy of volunteers Stephanie and Katelyn. The chimps were so excited!

Missy:

Foxie got a couple of new trolls, thanks to Katelyn and to Dick and Robbi Brown, who donated tons of new toys for the party:

Jody with her head in the game

Burrito always has his head in the game!

Jamie and her loot:

Negra and Jody enjoying their lunch together

Negra was so happy!

After lunch, the chimps went out on Young’s Hill for an Easter Egg Hunt! We were so excited to be able to see them search 2-acres for plastic Easter eggs filled with peanuts and berries. There were also carrots stuck in the ground, allowing them to “harvest” their own carrots! What a fun day!

Burrito is hilarious with his loot and I’m not sure I’ve seen Negra look happier!

I thought about what fun the chimps might be having today! Great job of enrichment and foraging…thank you Stephanie and Katelyn for being there today and to Jackie who submitted the blog. I’ll be there next Sunday and can’t wait!!!!!

How fun for everyone — not just the chimps! Was it warm enough for Negra to go out on the hill to get some goodies too?

      Hi Patti,

Negra did not go out on the hill that day. It was a bit windy, plus I think she was extraordinarily content after her lunch basket! 🙂

I love to see Negra so happy. Anything to make adn keep her happy. She is such a sweet soull. All the chimps seem to love easter egg hunting , Buritto looked so filled with him self and all the carrotts ,, I guess he figured to go enjoy his catch inside . Wonderful day for all the chimps, staff make it al so very colorful and festive, the chimps love it,, its very touching and heartwarming to see them so free adn enjoying their lives, where they are so revered, and ever so respected,, Im so glad the chimps know the difference of who is good and caring, and and who is not.. thanks CSNW for all your hard work for the chimps.

What a fabulous party–you all certainly create the best parties–no wonder they were so excited!!! Burrito clearly loves carrots and Negra looked so happy, as did all the others. Thanks for the photos and video, Jackie!

What fun! I would have loved that myself. Burrito looked so cute walking around with all those carrots. I love the idea of the plastic eggs.
I hope you all had a fun day. Love to all. 🙂

Oh the chimps ALL looked so happy and excited but the one of Negra just warmed my heart! Please can someone post it on Negra’s own page. Negra always looks beautiful and elegant and I’ve seen her look happy before but I don’t think I’ve EVER seen her look this happy! Lots of love to all the chimps and caregivers and congratulations to the photographer/videographer on capturing such great moments. x x x

Negra’s face made me so happy. She is so beautiful but I’d love to know if she went foraging outside. Missy of course at a gallop made me laugh out loud and Burrito is just too funny. I wondered the same thing. Did he leave any carrots for anyone else? LOL I was really looking forward to this post. Thank you.

      Hi Amy,

Jamie, Jody and Missy also got a few carrots, but they were all more interested in finding Easter eggs and didn’t even pay attention to the carrots until later (once Burrito had collected his loot!).

Looks like Farmer Buritto needs a wheel barrow to harvest his crop! He was quite funny with his single minded determination to get as many as he could!

Did the chimps know right away to look inside the eggs? What a clever idea – you all are so great at providing a variety of enrichment for them.
