This blog is filled with some random photos from the chimp house today!
Do you ever feel like someone is watching you? I definitely had the feeling this afternoon and saw Honey B keeping her eye on me from behind the bamboo.
She’s always watching.
Willy B taking an after lunch rest.
Dora hanging out in the Greenhouse.
Gordo finishing the rest of his lunch.
Cy took his reading material out to the Greenhouse.
I tried all day to get a photo of one of the chimpanzees in Negra’s group. I finally got one of Missy all bundled up in her nest.

Lovely photos all, Sam!
Do the 6 “mix it up” as much as the 7, or are they more peaceful?

I enjoyed every single photo. And of all the people to snap resting–Missy!
From spying to hanging out quietly to reading and expanding your mind, the new greenhouses are clearly enjoyed by everyone! It’s wonderful.

Honey B is a sly one, nothing is going to slip by her! I wonder what Cy is looking for in his calendar, perhaps to make sure his picture has been included? A big thank you to all of you for the loving care you give all the chimps and bovine.

Amazing how the bamboo and grass has survived the change of seasons, cold and the chimps. I remember JB(?) saying that you all knew the bamboo wouldn’t survive the destructive chimps very long, but I’m glad that isn’t the case. They all really seem to have taken to these indoor/outdoor areas.

Great pictures. I really enjoyed the blog.

Do the Chimps sleep or rest wherever they want or do the sleep in their own particular spots?

I just found a video on youtube from the very beginning of the sanctuary.
A story from KTCS from 12 years ago: Diana and J.B. and Keith La Chapelle.

Wow, I so enjoyed watching that. Thank you Marianne for sharing the link to the video. I was deeply touched when Keith La Chapelle explained his generous gift as : “Providing sanctuary for their dignity, building awareness for their survival” and then this, “…giving them dignity is about giving them choice, about letting them them live the way they want to live.” I wish I could personally thank Keith La Chapelle for his kind heart — he is empathy in action… cognitive, emotional, and compassionate empathy. Proving that yes, one person can make a difference. An intial thought, and in this case a powerful sophisticated team, changed the lives of 20 beings — forever.

When I first found CSNW last year on YouTube, I feel like I watched zillions of videos, but this one is new to me today. And it was wonderful! God bless Keith LaChapelle. What a blessing he has been. Thank you

so I’m sure you all know that burrito is my true love valentine. But lately I have been so taken with Honey B! so many recent photos have had that deadpan stare LOL. she has a very distinct and beautiful face. The more I get to know her personality the more I’m just so very taken with her. She can be a booger. I think that’s why I like her. I can be a booger too. Raised with four boys…Need I say more?

Thank you for that, Marianne. I also went back to look. For maybe the first time ever, I’m grateful to PETA. And Thank God for Keith La Chapelle. It’s always hard to see pictures of animals in these conditions, but even harder after getting to know those we love were subjected to those living conditions. “Our” 7 look so much better now, and I’m so glad. Interesting that FB users comment on gorilla photos, saying they’re like us. I respond that we’d be better to be like them. Disgusting to know what humans can do and what they do. Once again, I’m glad I found CSNW!
