Information About Visits

This is a very limited opportunity - just a few dates available, with a limited number of people per visit.

You and up to 3 guests (max) can join a group of fellow supporters for a staff-led educational presentation followed by the opportunity to watch the chimpanzees in their outdoor enclosure.

• We are requesting a donation of $35 per visitor upon signup
• Visits begin at 1:00 and generally last 90 minutes. We request you arrive between 12:30 and 12:50 (not before).
• Children must be 12 and older, and must be accompanied by a legal guardian if under 18
• Keep your eye on the weather - the visit will be conducted outside, so you might need to prepare for both sun (sunscreen!) and wind.
• Bad weather (heavy rain or wind) could affect an opportunity to see the chimps in their outdoor habitat, but you will likely be able to see them in the greenhouse (still at a bit of a distance), and of course you will also be able to see the property and learn more about the organization.
• Your visit with the chimps (weather permitting) will take place several feet away from the chimps' enclosure that is surrounded by two electric fences. It's easy to see through the fences, but not so easy to get good photos. That said, you are welcome to bring a camera (a telephoto lens is recommended) and binoculars if you wish.
• The sanctuary is located in a rural area on an old farm, so somewhat sturdy shoes that you don't mind getting scuffed and possibly dirty are recommended. The walk to the observation area from the parking area is short but involves walking up a steep gravel path which would be difficult for wheelchairs, those using assistance walkers, and those on crutches. Please let us know if you need accomodations and we will do our best.
• You will be asked to sign a legal liability waiver.
• We are expecting a busy summer and chimpanzees can be unpredictable, please note that all visit dates are subject to change or cancellation
